Here is Sweet Marias score card for this coffee.  This coffee has a very bold taste.  I don’t know if this is from the acidity level or from my lack of cupping practice or my over roasting of this batch.  I do like the bold taste but like the Brazilian coffee I’m also drinking this week I wouldn’t drink it every day.  It does have great aroma.

Here is Sweet Marias score card for this coffee.  It has a heavier taste than other coffees I’ve tasted.  You can definite taste the chocolaty taste the reviewer describes.  This is the kind of coffee that I would make on the weekends but probably not on a daily basis.  Its comparable to drinking a porter beer.  Its very good, though and I give it high marks.

Here is a little preface to my coffee tastings.  I buy all my green coffee from Sweet Marias.  I will be using their cupping chart as a comparison for all of my results.  You can see all there cupping reviews here.  I typically roast my coffee to a full city roast which is pretty dark.  If you are unsure of what the term full city roast is, you can go here to see the different degrees of roasting.  It really takes some practice with the roaster to avoid over or under roasting a bean.  Anyways, on to my first coffee review.

Here is Sweet Marias score card for this coffee.  I agree with all of the reviewers statements.  It is a very smooth, good tasting coffee.  I could easily drink this every day.

The coffee saga

As you know(or don’t know) I’ve been into coffee for a while.  I started off drinking Maxwell House and Folgers in a basic drip coffee maker and then ventured into making espresso by buying an espresso machine.  I then jumped even deeper into the coffee addiction by buying a coffee roaster and buying the green beans and roasting them.  Well fast forward to the week William was born.  I had just bought 10 lbs of green bean to roast because I knew that first couple of months require caffeine.  I had roasted about a pound and a half coffee and had left the roaster out on my work bench over night to cool.  Well that evening we had some bad storms and I heard some dog activity in the garage but I didn’t think much of it because they are always nervous when there is thunder and lightning.  The next morning I went into the garage to open the dog door to let the dogs out and put the coffee roaster away.  It wasn’t a pretty site.  It was not as bad as the night Max knocked over 5 gallons of gas in the garage but it was close.  Well on the floor lay my coffee roaster in a bunch of pieces.  I guess one of the dogs freaked out and tried to jump up on the work bench.

Well for the last month and a half I have been drinking the coffee Melanie likes and I have learned why I like having my freshly roasted coffee.  Last week was my birthday and after some nice gifts from my parents and others, I purchased another coffee roaster(the IRoast 2) and yesterday I roasted a half a pound of coffee and this morning I once again enjoyed that fresh cup of coffee.  I really love coffee.

From now on I’m going to post up my coffee tastings.  This week I will trying some Rwandan coffee and some Nicaraguan coffee.  This morning I already tried the Rwandan and it was good.  After a few more cups I’ll post up my opinions.

Anyway, Its nice to be roasting again.
