Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial

As you can tell, I like to try beers with weird names.  This beer is very smooth and tasty but has a pretty high alcohol content and its heavy so you might want to limit yourself to one of these.  If you like chocolatey, malty beer then you’ll love this porter.  I still like Anchor Steams porter better but this one is very good also.  I’m looking forward to colder weather so I can try more porters.  I would try to avoid heavier beers when the temperature is above 80 degrees outside.  When I ordered this beer I didn’t realize it was a porter(based on Taco Mac’s menu) so I was a little surprised when I got it.  It was a pleasant surprise, though.

Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar

I know it sounds like I’m an alcoholic posting one entry about wine and the next about a beer but I assure you that this is purely for information purpose only.  Last year we started going to Taco Mac and if you have been to one of these places you know its mainly a wing and beer place but in Roswell its surprisingly geared towards families.  Well, anyway, they have a program called the passport where you get t-shirts and mugs if you drink a certain number of beer.  Well I think it takes 15 beers to get a t-shirt and I still haven’t made it to the t-shirt yet after one year but I do try to venture out and try different beers.  This week I tried Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar.  It’s a brown ale that I highly recommend.  It has the sweetness of a nut brown ale and the taste of a porter but its not as heavy as a porter or a stout beer.  Anyway, if you have an opportunity to try this beer, I would recommend it.  From now on I’m going to try to start posting up my beer tasting since my goal is try a new beer every time I go there.  The posts may not be weekly or bi-weekly but I’ll try to post up when I have a good tasting brew.
