This past week Ashton went to the doctors for his 4 month visit and low and behold we discovered we have a big baby.
When we brought him in for his last visit he was in the 50th percentile for his height and weight but after this visit he is now in the 80th percentile. He now weighs 16 lbs 10 ounces and stands(well one day) 26 inches tall. We also got the ok to finally take Ashton off of the reflux medicine also. The only issues we have had since his visit last Monday is he isn’t going to sleep as quickly as he had before. I don’t know if it was the stoppage of the reflux medicine or maybe the fact that we had to remove the bumper from his bed because he was burying his head in it but now it takes him 30 minutes to settle down and go to sleep. We are thinking it’s the latter since he’s not showing any signs of reflux. Today, we will be giving him first taste of baby food so it should be interesting. I’ll put up a video of it when he finishes his first meal.

It’s been a while since I wrote an entry simply because work and house related things have been taking all my time. I guess quite a number of things have happened since I last blogged. My sister and her family had to leave their house in Mandeville(north shore of Lake Ponchatrain) to avoid hurricane Katrina. Luckily for them, they avoided much of the devastation that many people in that area faced. I know God was looking over their house. They went back week before last once power was restored and they are repairing the damage from the tree that poked a hole in their master bedroom. After looking at the pictures, I still don’t know how that tree didn’t go right through the center of their house. I really felt guilty that I couldn’t come down with Leigh and Dan labor day weekend. If I could have gotten off a day earlier I would have gone down to help out.
On the home front, we have been kicking around the idea of selling the house. Melanie and I love where where we live but we have some issues with the elementary school and our neighborhood that I doubt will get any better in the coming years so the current plan is to put the house on the market in the spring unless a house we really like comes on the market sooner(we’ll put it on the market immediately). The one thing that really sucks is we have put many, many hours into this house and I really hate to have to do the same on another house. I know where all the shortcomings are with our house but who knows what is wrong with the house we might buy. Of course I’m smarter now also. When you replace every major part of your home, you get that way.
Til next time….
At about three and a half months, Ashton began to outgrow his swaddle so we began to look for something to transition from the swaddle to his eventual sleeping with just his pajamas and the sleep sack fit the bill. At first we thought it might be a problem since sometimes his hands would flail and it would wake him up but after a night or two of sleeping in the sleep sack he was just fine.

Ashton had his four month old birthday today and to commemorate the occasion I added several pictures and a movie of him watching his current favorite DVD, Baby Beethoven. I also created a videos directory link since the program I use only works with quicktime movies and all the movies I make are in mpeg or wmv format. Enjoy. The movie is here
